Susan Causey’s School of Dance was founded over 35 years ago with a vision to provide exceptional dance education in a nurturing environment. The school’s early days were marked by dedication to fostering grace, self-esteem, and exemplary conduct in young dancers.
The motivation behind the school’s inception was to shape young dancers into role models through emphasizing technique and alignment. This commitment has guided the school’s growth and success over the years.

Susan Causey
A native of Abbeville and a Charleston resident since 1979, Susan Causey founded her dance studio in 1980, combining her passion for dance with her devotion to children’s growth and happiness. With a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina, Susan’s vision was clear: to create a nurturing space where young girls could embrace their joy and confidence. Her exceptional compassion, zest for life, dedication to fun learning experiences, and her steadfast faith have been the cornerstone of a thriving dance community. At Susan Causey’s Dance Studio, we are not just teaching dance—we are fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of this art form in each student.
Anne Nicole Sprouse, Susan’s eldest daughter, has been a familiar figure in dance across the state from the tender age of three. An alumna of her mother’s studio, Anne Nicole brings a wealth of experience to the dance floor. With a Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of South Carolina, she balances her time between her role as a dedicated nurse and a passionate dance instructor. Anne Nicole specializes in tap and jazz. When available, her commitment is to unlock the fullest potential in every student. We are indeed fortunate to have Anne Nicole’s talent and energy in our midst.
